Also, automotive electronics are different as compared to other commercial grade electronics. Automotive electronics can be subjected to, and are therefore rated at, more extreme temperature ranges than commercial (i.e. normal) electronics (-40°C to 125°C).

Sensors and Switches

Potting in sensors and switches is challenging for several reasons. Very small dispensing quantities, deep dispensing depths, lower area available for dispensing are some common factors that pose a challenge in potting. Higher volumes of production means greater chances of errors in potting. With advanced controls and automation, Twin offers proven solutions suitable in potting for a wide range – from two-wheeler side stand senor to Diesel fuel sensors to Tractor switches.
Electronic Control Units (ECUs)/CDI/Flashers
Reliable vacuum potting with production output of up to 4,000 units/shift
The modern-day ECUs are compact and control greater number of engine parameters. This means ECU circuits have higher density of components which makes potting a challenging task. Twin’s machines solve the challenge and enable high volume production by automating component handling, mixing & dispensing in a single machine.
Relays, Regulator Rectifiers (RR)
Precise, consistent and bubble free potting ensures quality
Potting in Relays and RR is critical to protection from dust, vibration and other external elements. Achieving bubble free, consistent and repeatable potting is often a challenge. It also affects heat dissipation, protection from EMIs etc. which are required for higher reliability and longer product life. Twin offers precision potting machines with automation for Relays and RR serving ignition unit, horn and other DC loads.
Ignition Coils
Optimised vacuum processing and dispensing – complete solution for higher throughput
The material processing for Ignition Coils is challenging. Twin offers fully automated material processing of filled resins using thin film degassing, electrical heating under continuous vacuum for storage tanks. The mixed material is dispensed under vacuum for high quality vacuum seal and is free from any air pockets. Twin’s solutions are designed to deliver higher throughput by reducing the vacuum time and automating the dispensing process.
Electric Motor Coils
Vacuum potting coupled with automation to drive quality and productivity
There are several concerns when it came to automating the potting of coils in motors. Ensuring perfect vacuum which is critical to product’s life and performance depends on the quality of potting. Dispensing of potted material completely through a small diameter runner to a depths of up to 250 mm or more is another challenge. These potting concerns also slow-down the manufacturing in case of large-scale production. Twin offers innovative solutions with vacuum chambers and automation in dispensing to reduce the cycle time and improve quality.
LED Luminary & Drivers
Precision potting gives accurate mix characteristics
The LED lights are central to the future of brand and styling in automotive. Potted LEDs and PCB/Drivers are used in tail lights, high and low beam lights, fog lamps, premium signal lamps to car interior styling and accessories such as reading, safety, or inspection lights. Twin offers highly economical solution for large-scale production of encapsulated LED Lights in Cars and HCVs and LED PCB/Drivers Potting. The Machines are suitable for potting of two component Epoxies in Drivers or Silicone that are typically used to protect a variety of LED lights.
